True 2 Life Music x Nokia's Social Media Week After-Party
(True 2 Life Music at Nokia’s Social Media Week After-Party)

What’s good Lifers?

HAPPY BELATED 211 DAY!! It’s K.Words and I’m checking in to give you a quick rundown of the events of last Friday, Feb 11th. Some may know, and some may not… but Feb 11th is a special day for us here at True 2 Life Music… it’s like a birthday for the group (even though the group wasn’t born on that day). T2L history aside, here’s how it went down.

Our homie DJ FRiTZO hit us up about this Social Media Week Panel discussion that he was the moderator for. We’ve worked with Fritzo in the past (See Labor Day Weekend Show / Cornell Alumni Panel) and since he gave us an opportunity to speak on a panel in the past (alongside Reggie Osse, Londell McMillan, and Linda Berk), we felt it was only right to check out the event. This event’s panelists included:

Reggie Osse (Managing Editor of The Source)
Saigon (Recording Artist, “The Greatest Story Never Told, in stores now!!)
Karen Civil (Social Media Queen, karencivil.com)
Peter Rosenberg (Hot 97)

The panelists for "Tweets, Beef, and Internet Heat"
(The panelists for “Tweets, Beef, and Internet Heat”- The Keys to Success in Today’s Hip Hop Industry, Hosted by The Source Magazine & StoneBrown Productions)

Interestingly enough, I have come across all of these people in one way or another and truly respect their work, so heading to this event was a no-brainer. Plus, it was at the Red Bull Space, so I knew they’d have free red bulls on deck. Sorry, I digress. Anyway, it was good to hear the perspective of these industry professionals concerning social media. Obviously, True 2 Life Music tries to stay on the cutting edge of social media, constantly shouting out our Twitter pages / Facebook any time we can… but as they spoke about social media as it pertained to the ups and downs of it’s use and abuse, and it was good to hear their thoughts/opinions.

So, after a quick Happy Hour After Party, we dipped to the Social Media Week Closing Celebration Event at District 36 in Midtown. The party was all kinds of poppin’.. after quick pics at the step & repeat, we walked upstairs to the main party room where we were hit with a smell of Korean BBQ tacos. Shouts out to Korilla BBQ Truck. Between free food and open bar (Slang, Cise, and Fritzo were abusing this 12yr old scotch), everything was good. There was even a special guest show…. towards the end of the night, Chiddy Bang performed. (well, just Chiddy.. see vid below).

All in all, it was a dope day… maybe next year we’ll be mobbin’ at a few more Social Media Week events.

Happy 211. Stay True.

True 2 Life Music at “Notorious” Wrap Party

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Whats Good True 2 Lifers? There are just about 3 weeks until the release of our first feature film debut, Notorious. Word life.

For those not connected to us on Facebook we have pictures up from the Notorious Wrap Party in NYC. The party was crazy and we have some pretty good pics with some of the crew, the other actors and actresses in the movie and even some of the real people portrayed in the biopic.

Here is the link to the photo album: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2247975&id=403376&ref=share
