What’s good True 2 Lifers?

We’re heading back to the ‘nell this weekend to be a part of an alumni discussion panel. Feels like we just left as students, now we’re back as alumni. The panel is called “Hottest Hip Hop Ivy” (not sure who titled it) but well we’ll be panelist amongst some very important hip-hop/entertainment industry heads who happen to be Cornell alum.

Panelist include Londell McMillan (prominent hip-hop lawyer, co-owner and executive publisher of The Source Magazine), Reggie Osse (music attorney, Co-author of “Bling” novel, Combat Jack to those in the blogosphere), Linda Berk (General Manager of AJM records, represents Ashanti), Randy McMillan (legal counsel at Island Def Jam Music Group), and last but not least…Kanye West (produced Common’s “The People”). Nah just playing…True 2 Life Music (Jackie Rob & Slangston Hughes) will be on the panel offering insight into what’s it like being artists in this industry trying to break through and advance our movement. Moderating the whole discussion will be Cornell alum Fritz Celestin, a talented video producer and director who worked with everyone Diddy to Madonna, Slick Rick to Mary J Blidge.

We’re looking forward to being panelist, but also just attending the discussion. Should be a dope overall experience, all of the panel members have excelled to do remarkable things that we can learn from. After the panel we are booked to perform at The Phenom Step show on campus and will of course be in the streets after that partying…word up.

So we’re back on our show tip. Damn we miss performing live. Recently we’ve been recording a lot and had to pass some show opportunities, but now we’re back on it. We have 2 live performances the night of Friday the 13th in NYC.

First one is at The Proxy Magazine’s Release Party, being held at the Lerner Space at Columbia University. The event starts at 7pm and it’s free for all, but you must be included on the guestlist. We’re throwing a birthday party for our True 2 Life brother, Concise, at Sway Lounge in NYC tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 2nd (Groundhog’s day). Of course, we are inviting all of you: our family, friends, fans and followers.

Here is some quick footage from the “Notorious” Premiere at the AMC in Lincoln Center, Wednesday 1.09.2009. Had to hide the recording device for the most part because they were confiscating those and I kept it during the movie to get some bootleg clips for the black market. But sitting next to ice t and coco deterred my plans.

Last night we went to the Brooklyn cast and crew screening. I think movie was even more enjoyable the second time watching. It’s a truly moving experience. So make sure you see it…twice. We’ll be posting some video and pics from last night as well.

What’s good True 2 Lifers and new heads?

So you have seen our twitter buzzing with updates about us going hard in the stu’. We’ve been quietly wrapping up our next musical project. Going hand in hand with True 2 Life Music making our first Feature Film debut in the movie “NOTORIOUS” and being artists, we felt creatively inspired by the recent resurgence of Biggie’s legacy.

Being in hip hop it’s impossible to not be influenced by The Notorious B.I.G or at least influenced by those he influenced.

So on Thursday, Jan 15th, 2000-Shine True 2 Life Music will be releasing a collection of original music inspired by Biggie Smalls titled “Larger Than Life”. The project will be produced and written by us and will include songs, interpolations, remixes and even some freestyles all influenced by Biggie’s musical legacy.

We will be releasing the project for FREE here on True2LifeMusic.net.

Whats Good True 2 Lifers? There are just about 3 weeks until the release of our first feature film debut, Notorious. Word life.

It’s Thanksgiving Day. And I wanna say thank you.

Tuesday Night we gathered @ 420 Lounge in NYC to premiere our music video for “Poppin’ On TV”. It was a good night new york city…

Our friends and family were in the building, celebrating with us the release of our video. People from school, work, “Notorious”, and “back home” were in attendance. (even people I haven’t seen in 14 years… wow….).
