What’s good true 2 lifers…

I wanted to personally write this thank you letter to everyone that either helped or came through and supported us this weekend for the True 2 Life / T-Pain show. i appreciate the love personally, and on behalf of true 2 life music.

special shouts out to our team and affliates for stepping up in various ways and helping out with everything from footage to liqs (hahah)…g-gutta. digi. hollywood. melon. onome. shirley. jaystarr. essay. dj a2. dj silo. absolute zero. and of course mr. rawlins aka first class.

thanks to those that were involved in putting the event together. kendra. tex. joe to the. mcfab. alana. ccc.

thanks to various press and taste makers. alex m. cornell daily sun. etc…

and of course…thanks to all the fans that came to support true 2 life. and thanks to everyone that showed us love. thanks to the new supporters and anyone that enjoyed the performance and let us know either by wilding in the crowd or compliments afterwards. to those mouthing our lyrics. or repeating hooks after us. to those who had there hands in the air. to those that threw panties on stage…just playing. but yo we appreciate that love for real. it means everything to us.

Cornell Gets Low

By Maurice Chammah and Maggie Prendergast Maggie: This will be an unbiased review because both reporters had never heard of T-Pain. Therefore, we had no preconceived notions and can just judge his Cornell appearance.

Maurice: T-Pain was nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for “Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group” and indeed, he has built a reputation on being “that singing guy” next to Akon, Kanye West and Chris Brown, among others. At this show, sadly, he failed to convince anybody that he was marketable as a solo artist.

Maggie: The show opened not with DJ UNK (to many peoples’ surprise) but with True 2 Life. True 2 Life is a band composed of upbeat Cornell alumni. Their performance was nice because they talked us up about Cornell in Risley Hall.

Maurice: True 2 Life is exactly what old-school hip hop is all about. They had the stellar early ’90’s beats. They had songs about how great they are (“You think I’m hot now? You ain’t even seen me. Just wait ’til my face is poppin’ on TV”).

They sounded like a bunch of friends hanging out in bright, trendy clothing. They had break dancers. I couldn’t see their shoes but those were probably pretty snazzy too — let’s just say they were Adidas or Nikes (Reebok?). (more…)
